Domestic Security Planner - Tampa Bay RPC

The Council seeks a motivated, well organized person with domestic security and/or emergency

management experience. Successful applicant will be an employee of TBRPC and work under

the direction of the District 4 Regional Domestic Security Task Force (RDSTF) and the

Council’s Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). Position will require review and

development of the Tampa Bay RDSTF Regional Plan and Incident Management “Type III”

Team Development. Additionally, position will continue the Regional Assessment efforts

established to identify and quantify regional resources. Other similar planning activities related

to Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness may include assistance in planning activities

related to exercises involving the above activities as well as other activities related to the Region

4 Regional Domestic Security Task Force as may be required by RDSTF leadership.

Successful applicant will likely possess the following:

A bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field from an accredited college

or university and two years experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience

may be substituted.

A familiarity with the Florida State Comprehensive Emergency Management Planning (CEMP)

system as well as an understanding of the statewide inter-relationships among the Florida

Division of Emergency Management, Florida Regional Planning Councils, Local Emergency

Planning Committees, and the Regional Domestic Security Task Forces.

Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to synthesize data and information and

present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral or graphic form. Ability to make

public presentations may be required. The ability to establish and maintain effective working

relationships with community agencies, staff members, and the general public.

Knowledge of computer applications used in planning such as word processing, spreadsheets,

Powerpoint, etc. Experience with ArcView/GIS is a plus.

Salary DOQ &E - Position Range is $34,500 to $60,800.
