How many hospitals are still using colors for different codes rather than plain language for emergency situations? At my hospitals we use Code Blue (cardiac/respiratory arrest), Code Red (fire), Code Pink (missing/abducted infant/child), and Code Black (confirmed bomb). The rest of the situations we use plain language with brief response and description as indicated. As part of a larger system, with new people coming on board as others depart, some of the new people have "new" suggestions (using old colors) and I have been unable to find definitive "expert" opinions. Any and all suggestions welcomed. Thanks.
